Staying In A Big Bend RV Park

By Chasity Sheppard

Visiting national parks in the United States is a fun experience that will really help you understand the land and its history. It is cheaper than a resort vacation and just as much fun, especially if you enjoy fresh air and the outdoors. One of the most popular of these parks is Big Bend, and though some people elect to stay in hotels when they visit, some prefer to camp in a tent or RV. There are many Big Bend RV park choices in the area, you just need to know what to look for to find the best one.

One thing to consider when planning an RV vacation at Big Bend is whether or not the facility you choose to camp at has electricity. Some won't have electric hookups, while others do. Those that don't may have rules in place that allow you to bring your own generator, so find out in advance if this is the case.

Water is another big necessity that you want on your list. Some parks have water hookups that allow you to use your sink, toilet, and shower without a hitch. Others might not have these, so you will have to make sure you fill up the water tank on your recreational vehicle before you get there.

If you want to bring Fido on your vacation, make sure the park you choose allows pets. Some have very strict anti-pet rules, while others will allow you to bring a pet, through there may be restrictions. These restrictions might include leash rules, and you will likely be required to pick up after your dog, so be sure to bring some waste bags with you.

If you can't go more than a couple of hours without checking your e-mail, then be sure to inquire about whether the facility you are thinking of using has Internet access. For a long time, most park facilities did not have wireless access, but more and more are offering it now, though an extra fee may be involved.

Some people only want to spend a few days at Big Bend, while others may not want to ever leave. If you wish to have a long vacation there, many parks will offer you a weekly or even monthly rate for camping. There may even be discounts for extended stays available, so ask about lower prices before you pay for your reservation.

Since the weather in the area is fairly temperate year round, most of the parks are open all the time. This gives you a lot of freedom when planning which days you plan to vacation. Call ahead and ensure that the one you choose will be open, even if the weather turns a little sour while you are there. It could save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Choosing to visit a national park for your solo or family vacation is a decision that you likely won't ever regret. You can stay in comfort in your home away from home if you take your recreational vehicle. You can choose from a wide variety of Big Bend RV park grounds in the area, once of which is sure to be perfect for your needs.
